Never take your eye off the prize.
After a stock market year like we enjoyed in 2024, it’s pretty easy to coast during the final few weeks. Christmas parties, New Year’s — can’t really blame anyone for hanging it up and just enjoying the holiday season…
Not Outsider Club though…
We’ve been doing this long enough to know that the few days before and after New Year’s Day are a great time to pick up a moonshot stock or two.
So on December 30, Hammer brought one such moonshot opportunity to your attention, a stock called Accolade (ACCD):
This stock is a contrarian dream. The chart shows a MACD bullish cross and solid support. Healthcare is out of fashion due to RFK Jr. but that’s overdone. COVID stocks have been beaten up. Tax loss selling is in play.
When stocks go from losing money to making money the share price spikes. Accolade looks like a solid speculation going into the new year. Buy it on New Year’s Eve at the market.
Hammer’s recommendation took less than two weeks to bear fruit. Yesterday, shares of Accolade were up over 100% on a buyout offer!
And I gotta say — it’s not a surprise. I’ve worked with Christian “Hammer” DeHaemer for nearly 30 years, and I’ve seen his Midas touch for picking stocks more times than I can count.
But even better is the knowledge that some of our readers are putting Outsider Club insights to good use!
Yesterday, reader S. dropped us a line to say:
Thanks so much for ACCD recommendation, made 100% gain. I am following you…[for years] and you have history of making some amazing recommendations.
And J.L. said:
Dear Mr DeHaemer,
Thank you so much for your articles which I always read. Not only did I buy ACCD after reading this one and looking it up. but I nominated it as one of my 2 ‘shares of the year’ for our investment club for 2025…
I can now choose another ‘share of the year’ to add to my already 100% gain. I’d better keep reading your stuff.
Thanks again
There’s no better way to kick off a New Year than with a triple-digit winner. So congratulations, thanks for writing, and thanks for reading Outsider Club!
Now I’m shifting gears a little because there’s something important you need to know…
The Nuclear Option
Of course, it would be Texas…
The electricity grid in Texas is unique in that it is not connected to the national grid. When power demand surges, Texas does not have the option to buy power from its neighbors. This has led to some crazy spikes in price. It’s also led to some severe power outages, like the one in 2021 that cut off power to 4.5 million homes and businesses.
That’s a big reason why Texas isn’t picky about power generation projects – natural gas, wind solar, yes please…
Also nuclear.
Texas is one of the fastest-growing states in the U.S. It is also building data centers as fast as any place in the country. No surprise that Texas wants to implement small modular nuclear reactor (SMR) technology, as well as micro-reactor technology…
We’ve written a lot about the regulatory hurdles that this new nuclear technology faces. In a nutshell, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has archaic rules for approval that do not take into account the efficiencies of small modular reactors…
And it’s starting in Texas.
The states of Texas and Utah, along with a Texas micro-nuclear reactor company called Last Energy have filed suit against the NRC, claiming that has no jurisdiction over small and micro-nuclear reactors.
The suit states:
“The root cause [slowing nuclear innovation] is not lack of demand or technology—but rather the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which, despite its name, does not really regulate new nuclear reactor construction so much as ensure that it almost never happens…The NRC imposes complicated, costly, and time-intensive requirements that even the smallest and safest SMRs and microreactors…must satisfy to acquire and maintain a construction and operating license.”
This is very good news for SMR stocks like NuScale (SMR) and Oklo (OKLO), as well as micro-reactor stocks like Nano Nuclear (NNE).
Thank you, Texas!
